Lyon announced on its official website on Saturday that the club has renewed the contract of its Argentina international left-back Nicolás Tagliafico.
According to Lyon's official statement, Tagliafico has signed on a short-term two-year deal with the club which only runs until the summer of 2027.
About Nicolás Tagliafico
Tagliafico, who will soon be 33, was born on August 31, 1992, in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. He stands 1.72 meters tall and plays primarily as a left-back, but can also play as a center-back or left midfielder. He holds dual Argentinian and Italian citizenship.
Tagliafico joined Banfield's youth academy at a young age and completed his Banfield first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in March 2011.
In August 2012, Tagliafico was loaned-out to Real Murcia, where he helped the club avoid relegation.
The following summer, upon returning from his loan spell, Tagliafico became a key player in the Banfield first-team.
During his four-year spell at Banfield, Tagliafico helped the club win the Argentine Primera División B once.
In February 2015, Tagliafico joined Independiente for €1 million.
During his three-year spell at Independiente, Tagliafico helped the club win the Copa Sudamericana once.
In January 2018, Tagliafico joined Ajax for €4 million.
During his four-year spell at de Godenzonen, Tagliafico helped the club win the Eredivisie three times, the KNVB Cup twice, and reached the Champions League semi-finals once.
In July 2022, Tagliafico joined Lyon for €4.2 million.
Since joining Les Gones, Tagliafico has made 102 appearances for the Ligue 1 powerhouse in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing ten assists. During which he has helped the club reached the Coupe de France final and the Europa League quarter-finals once each.
