Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano exclusive reported that Bournemouth has decided to trigger the buy-out clause of on-loan AC Milan youngster Álex Jiménez in his personal paid column on Tuesday.
According to Romano, Bournemouth had already planned to trigger Jiménez's mandatory buy-out clause this summer. However, due to a series of uncertainties, the club has decided to proceed with the plan earlier than expected.
Under the original loan agreement, Jiménez's buy-out clause would be automatically triggered this summer if he made 20 Premier League appearances this season.
The Cherries will pay AC Milan £17 million to buy out Jiménez's ownership rights. This fee will be split equally between AC Milan and his former club, Real Madrid.
Furthermore, because Real Madrid owns a 50% sell-on clause or a buy-back clause / first refusal clause of-way clause for Jiménez's transfer, the Cherries decided to trigger the buy-out clause early to better control the player's future.
In addition, Romano also revealed that Jiménez's personal dream is to return to play for Real Madrid someday, but at this stage, Los Blancos have not yet decided on whether to exercise his buy-back clause or not.
The La Liga giants may follow the example of their club, observing Álvaro Carreras for several years before deciding to buy him back, in dealing with Jiménez's transfer.
This is also the method Los Blancos are currently using upon Como's wonderkid Nico Paz.
