Atalanta recorded a 0-1 away win over AC Milan on matchday 33 of the 2024/25 Serie A season at the San Siro Stadium on Sunday.

In the first half, both sides had many scoring opportunities but neither of them took advantage of them. Leão was pushed down at the edge of the penalty area but was wrongly ruled by VAR as having being caught offside. In the second half, Éderson scored with a header, Retegui missed from close range, and Lookman's volley was saved. In the end, Atalanta won 0-1 away against AC Milan. After this round of games, I Rossoneri is temporarily 9th on the table with 51 points; La Dea is temporarily 3rd with 64 points, only 7 points behind Inter Milan and Napoli, who are temporarily first and second on the table with 71 points.

First Half

In the 25th minute, Mario Pašalić crossed from the edge of the right side of the box. Mateo Retegui quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, half-volleyed with his right foot from close range in the box, but his shot went just slightly wide of the right side of the post.

5 minutes later, Tijjani Reijnders passes horizontally from the midfield center circle. Rafael Leão quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled to the edge of the penalty area before he was being pushed down by Raoul Bellanova who was returning to defend. However, the referee refused to give AC Milan a free kick opportunity because Leão was deemed offside! However, the video replay broadcast by the TV station showed that Leão actually has successfully beating the offside trap, so this was another major mistake of the VAR video replay system!

In the 44th minute, Álex Jiménez made a through pass from the front. After successfully beating the offside trap, Luka Jović stopped the ball, turned around and volleyed with his left foot from the center of the box, but his shot went just slightly higher than the upper left corner of the crossbar.

At the end of the first half, AC Milan and Atalanta temporarily drew 0-0 and entered the half-time break.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 62nd minute, Ademola Lookman crossed into the box from the left wing. Bellanova headed the ball across. Éderson quickly followed up and scored with a header. Atalanta broke the deadlock first to take a 0-1 lead! This is the Brazil international midfielder's fifth goal in all competitions this season!

12 minutes later, Lookman passes horizontally from the left side of the box. Retegui quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, shoveled the ball with his right foot at a very close distance in the box, but his shot went slightly wide of the left side of the post. Atalanta missed a golden opportunity to expand its lead!

In the 90th minute, Atalanta made a quick counterattack. Éderson made a through pass from his own back half. After successfully beating the offside trap, Ademola Lookman quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled and cuts into the left side of the box before volleying with his left foot, but his shot was saved by Mike Maignan.

When the final whistle is blown, Atalanta's 0-1 away win over AC Milan changed the situation of the Serie A title race again.
